The Woodlands

The Woodlands is a master-planned community primarily within Montgomery County. Small portions of the development extend into Shenandoah and Conroe. Agreements with these cities allow future incorporation of The Woodlands as an independent city.

The Woodlands continues to grow residentially and commercially as many companies have moved to The Woodlands. It boasts of businesses such as ExxonMobil, Anadarko Petroleum, St. Lukes Hospital, Hewitt Associates, Memorial Hermann The Woodlands Hospital, Baker Hughes, Chevron Phillips Chemical, Huntsman Corporation, , Chicago Bridge & Iron Company, McKesson Corporation,Maersk Line, Safmarine, Halliburton, and Woodforest National Bank.

The Woodlands offers many entertainment venues including more than 150 restaurants, movie theaters, a publicly accessible waterway, and dancing waterfalls with music. Also featured is the Cynthia Woods Mitchell Pavilion, summer home of the Houston Symphony and catering to many large acts (rock bands to classical). Additional attractions include Market Street, an old style "Main Street" pedestrian shopping district, home to a movie theater and a variety of shops and restaurants.

The Woodlands is divided into nine distinctive villages or communities. Each village is unique in that it functions like its own small town. The villages are complete with different shopping centers, village associations, parks, playgrounds, homes and personalities within The Woodlands.
